The tutu Club teachers and assistants 

Katie Hazell Associate AISTD & ARAD

Katie currently runs the Club from tutu Headquaters and teaches the tutu syllabus on Wednesdays with the support from our fantastic teachers and assistants. Katie trained for three years at Northern Ballet School where she gained a Diploma in Dance and her ISTD teaching certificates, and has continued her training in many other dance disciplines.

Katie also created & teaches her “Core Stability” programme to adults on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. She is also a qualified Level 3 Pilates instructor and loves teaching Pilates to her clients.

Emily Matthews BA (Hons)

Emily trained for three years at Middlesex University where she gained a degree in Dance Performance. Growing up, Emily trained in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, classical greek and contemporary. Emily has taken part in many All England Dance Competition’s including solos and group pieces, she is also a qualified nursery nurse, trained at Highwood Nursery, Brockenhurst and has completed optional units in researching the creativity of children.

Emily has been part of our team since September 2014, a fully trained tutu teacher with so much knowledge in early years teaching. Emily teaches the Hythe, Brockenhurst, Colbury & Bartley classes and assists Katie on a Wednesday. The children all adore her, and so do we! Emily has recently qualified to teach the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus.

Tilly Diaper

Tilly trained at the English National Ballet School and after completing 3 years of training, gained a Diploma in Professional Dance. After graduation Tilly went on to work with European Ballet and Northern Ballet Theatre and later traveled the world on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. Tilly has qualified in ISTD and gained her DDE in Ballet, Tap and Modern, and her current teaching experience includes teaching at Joanna Vowles School of Dance (Hedge End) and Roynon Dance School (Woolston). Following the birth of her son, Tilly is returning to teach her Bursledon classes this term, we feel honored to have such a fantastic ballet dancer and teacher onboard!

Harriet Hannides

Harriet joined The tutu club on work experience in our first year, and very quickly proved herself to be an important member of the team. Harriet now teaches the Shirley and West Wellow classes and in Bartley on Thursdays. Harriet started ballet at the age of 2 following the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus, Imperial Society syllabus and Cecchetti. She has also taken part in many workshops including classes with Wayne Sleep and summer schools with Ballet Creations and Arts Ed and has performed with the English Youth Ballet. Harriet has been studying Irish Dancing for 16 years and now competes at a national championship level.Harriet has 14 GCSEs including Dance, and has passed a dance leadership course taken at secondary school. She has completed A-levels at Brockenhurst College in Dance, Business Studies and Math’s: Pure and Statistics.

Grace Le Marquand

Grace currently takes our Saturday classes in Netley Marsh and our Monday classes in Curdridge. She also assists Tilly on a Friday in Bursledon. Grace has recently qualified as a ISTD teacher in modern and is completing her ballet at the moment. Grace teaches our after school sessions in Sholing infant school and has such a wonderful warm way with all the children.

Harriet Dacosta  – Assistant

Harriet started dancing when she was just 2 and went on to study A level dance at Brockenhurst college. Harriet now combines teaching dance and following her love of baking, owns her own cake business (AMAZING Cakes!). Harriet joined the team in March 2015 and we are so excited we found her – Harriet assists Emily in all the Hythe and Colbury classes and Harriet in Bartley, she is has recently qualified as a ISTD teacher, in Tap and Modern.

Stacey White – Assistant

Stacey has been dancing since the age of four, she currently takes class in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Musical Theatre at the Lindsey Read school of dance. She has trained at Laines Theatre of performing arts and has performed at the Mayflower. Stacey is currently on her pathway to become a dance teacher and we are lucky to have had her as part of the Club for 4 years. Stacey assists in our Romsey sessions with Emily..

Evie Butterfeild – Saturday Assistant

Evie is currently studying ballet, tap & modern at Emjay School of Dance in Southampton – she is our newest member of the team and she helps Grace on a Saturday at Netley Marsh. Evie’s love of dance is hard to hide – as she does not stop smiling!

Lily Carter – Saturday Assistant (1-1)

Lily currently dances with Lindsey Read School of Dance, she has performed in the Mayflower theatre pantomimes in Southampton. Following her work experience with us and all her hard work, we have asked Lily to be part of the team, offering some more 1-1 care in some of our Saturday session members.

Lola Provan – Saturday Assistant

Lola started dancing at the age of 3 and is currently studying ballet, tap, modern, jazz and musical theatre. Lola has performed in the Mayflower theatre pantomimes in Southampton, and would love dance as a career. Lola helps Emily on a Saturday at Bartley and is fantastic with the children.

Holly Driscoll AISTD Dip. Hons – Swing Cover

Holly trained at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts gaining her teaching diploma. Holly’s teaching experience includes Florian School of Dance (Winchester) and Stagecoach (Winchester, Totten and Hedge End) and Southampton University. Holly is our swing /cover teacher.
