The tutu Club teachers and assistants 

Katie Hazell Associate AISTD & ARAD

Katie currently runs the Club from tutu Headquaters and teaches the tutu syllabus on Wednesdays with the support from our fantastic teachers and assistants. Katie trained for three years at Northern Ballet School where she gained a Diploma in Dance and her ISTD teaching certificates, and has continued her training in many other dance disciplines.

Katie also created & teaches her “Core Stability” programme to adults on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. She is also a qualified Level 3 Pilates instructor and loves teaching Pilates to her clients.

Emily Matthews BA (Hons) 

Emily trained for three years at Middlesex University where she gained a degree in Dance Perfomance. Growing up, Emily trained in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, classical greek and contemporary.

Emily has taken part in many All England Dance Competition’s including solos and group pieces, she is also a qualified nursery nurse, trained at Highwood Nursery, Brockenhurst and has completed optional units in researching the creativity of children. Emily has been part of our team since September 2014, a fully trained tutu teacher with so much knowledge in early years teaching.  Emily teaches the Hythe, Brockenhurst, Colbury, Romsey & Netley Marsh classes and assists Katie on a Wednesday in Bartley. The children all adore her, and so do we! This summer, Emily obtained the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet teaching.

Tilly Diaper

Tilly trained at the English National Ballet School and after completing 3 years of training, gained a Diploma in Professional Dance. After graduation Tilly went on to work with European Ballet and Northern Ballet Theatre and later traveled the world on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.

Tilly is fully qualified, and has her DDE ISTD  qualification in Ballet, Tap and Modern and her current teaching experience includes teaching at Joanna Vowles School of Dance (Hedge End) and Roynon Dance School (Woolston).
Tilly is also fully trained in the tutu syllabus and teaches our classes across the water in Bursledon and Curdridge, we feel honoured to have such a fantastic ballet dancer and teacher onboard…we are also a little starry eyed at her beautiful ballerina feet!

Harriet Hannides

Harriet joined The tutu club on work experience in our first year, and very quickly proved herself to a be an important member of the team. Harriet is fully trained in The tutu syllabus and has taught many of our members over the past 7 years. Harriet currently teaches the Shirley, Bartley and West Wellow classes and we are hoping for her launch other venues very soon.

Grace Le Marquand

Grace began her dance training at the young age of 3, with Roynon Dance Woolston, dancing in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Contemporary and Street/Jazz. She was made Head Girl at Roynon from 2015-2017 and from there she qualified in ISTD DDI. Grace trained and performed as part of the English Youth Ballet, danced in English National Ballet workshops and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance summer training course. Grace is currently studying for her Diploma in Dance Education and is excited about this next chapter, to teach, encourage and inspire future dancers.

Grace assists classes in Bursledon and Curdridge and following her tutu teacher training starts teaching the Saturday sessions in Netley Marsh after this half term.

Harriet Dacosta (assistant)

Harriet started dancing when she was just 2 and went on to study A level dance at Brockenhurst college. Harriet now combines teaching dance and following her love of baking, owns her own cake business (AMAZING Cakes!).  
Harriet joined the team in March 2015 and we are so excited  we found her – Harriet assists Emily in all the Hythe and Colbury classes and Harriet in Shirley & Bartley, she is also currently training to qualify as a ISTD teacher.

Georgia Holland (assistant)

Georgia started dancing at the age of 3  and is currently studying ballet, tap, modern, jazz and musical theatre. Georgia has performed in the Mayflower theatre pantomimes in Southampton, and would love to teach dance as a career.

Georgia helps Katie & Emily on a Saturday at Bartley and with all our workshops in the holidays, we are currently increasing her independent teaching skills in class for her to gain experience.

Stacey White (assistant)

Stacey currently assists on a Saturday in Netley Marsh, and is a huge benefit to the team.

Stacey has been dancing since the age of four, she currently takes class in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Musical Theatre at the Lindsey Read school of dance. She has trained at Laines theatre of performing arts and has performed at the Mayflower.

Holly Driscoll ~ AISTD Dip. Hons

Holly trained at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts gaining her teaching diploma. She trained for 3 years and received a distinction in Musical Theatre Diploma. Her experience includes a principal role in Peter Pan at The Theatre Royal in Plymouth and Lola in Copacabana at the Peacock Theatre, London. Holly’s teaching experience includes Florian School of Dance (Winchester) and Stagecoach (Winchester, Totton and Hedge End) and Southampton University.

Holly is our swing teacher for cover and also looks after any of our after school activities.
